About This Event
On 4 August 2023, the Korea-Australia Relations Project (KARP) at the University of Melbourne launched its major report, Expanding Australia-Korea People-to- People Exchanges [한국-호주 인적교류 확대 방안.
The report is the culmination of over 15 months of interviews, fieldwork and roundtables with almost 100 extraordinary Australians and Koreans into the people-to- people (P2P) links that underpin the bilateral relationship. The report covers a broad range of topics, including migration, renewable energy, agriculture, media and education.
To celebrate the report’s release, Professor Kim Woosang of Yonsei University delivered a special lecture on “Korea, Australia and Middle Power Cooperation in an Era of Power Transition.” One of Korea’s most eminent scholars and theorists, Professor Kim is Professor of Political Science and Diplomacy at Yonsei University, a former South Korean Ambassador to Australia and former President of the Korea Foundation.
Following Professor Kim’s remarks, the webinar featured a panel discussion between the report’s author, Dr Peter K. Lee, and two leading experts on the Australia- Korea relationship:
